IDS12 - The Ultimate Contemporary Design Show

Published: 01/27/2012 in Events

The 2012 Interior Design Show (IDS12) at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre was packed. The IDS12 Trade Only Day’s atmosphere was wonderfully positive and we saw several familiar faces, such as Brian Gluckstein and several other HGTV stars. Industry professionals darted from one display to another and snapped pictures, grabbed brochures and chatted with company representatives.

The contemporary designs were fabulous; the kitchens, decor and artwork had most visitors standing in line to take photos or to get prices on products.

One of the feature exhibits at the show was Studio North. Studio North is exclusive to the IDS, this show within a show was introduced to support Canada’s independent design scene by bringing in designers from coast to coast. The exhibit featured 60 Canadian and International designers. They showcased custom collections of furniture, lighting, glass, ceramics, textiles, and surface designs. Many of the items were crafted by hand! This exhibit was by far our favourite part of the show!

Another feature exhibit at the show was Prototype. It celebrated its 10th anniversary and features unique works not currently in production by independent designers. There was some fantastic wood art in this exhibit.
